Building Together: Women for 50% at the NBNU Executive Council

Four Governing Board members of Women for 50% participated in a panel discussion at the New Brunswick Nurses Union (NBNU) Executive Council on March 30–31, 2026. Speaking before Local Presidents from across the province, they addressed the importance of women's leadership and shared the organization's mission. Reaching the goal of electing 25 women in 2028 requires a province-wide effort — and partnerships with committed organizations like the NBNU are central to that work. We extend our sincere thanks to NBNU President Paula Doucet for the invitation.

On March 19, 2026, Women for 50% had the privilege of presenting to the WorkSafe NB Board of Directors — bringing forward the voices of women in elected office and shining a light on the harassment they face every day.

Harassment isn't just a workplace issue. It's a health issue. A retention issue. And a barrier to the equal representation our democracy deserves.

We left the room encouraged by the openness to dialogue and the shared belief that change is possible — one conversation, one partnership, one safe space at a time.

This is why we do what we do.

Women for 50% on CBC Information Morning

On March 6, 2026, in recognition of International Women's Day, Dorothy Shephard, Roxanne Fairweather, and Elizabeth Weir joined CBC Information Morning Saint John with host Emily Brass to speak about the movement, the mission, and what it will take to elect 50% women to the New Brunswick Legislature by 2028.

The conversation touched on barriers women face in political life, the importance of community support, and why 2028 is a real and achievable goal.
